"Appearance Mix"
Celebrating the 400th Birthday of John Milton
August Highland
In this mix, August Highland produces a high-volume output of monumental scale works, each of which is 50 feet wide and as high as a six-story building. He then divides each work into panels of 60" x 60". The complete Appearance Mix wraps a six-floor, 185,000-square-foot building, the size of the new Whitney Museum site located in the Meatpacking District on Gansevoort Street, between West Street and the redeveloped High Line park. Each panel is a complete variation in composition and each one contains a different compilation of partial lines from Paradise Lost. There are over 17,500 abbreviated lines of verse in each work.
